This might be the biggest announcement of the 2022 election cycle in Howard County: Allan Kittleman will be seeking to regain the office of County Executive in Howard County in 2022. He announced today that he is entering the race. Here is the announcement:

One of the big items in the announcement is that Allan Kittleman will participate in the Citizens Election Fund. I will have more on that in a future article.

This will be the third run for Howard County Executive for Allan Kittleman.

In 2014 Kittleman won the race for County Executive by defeating Courtney Watson:

In 2018 in his re-election bid, Allan Kittleman lost to Calvin Ball:

Allan Kittleman currently serves on the Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission (appointed in November 2018 and confirmed by the Senate in 2019).

Allan Kittleman recently has been working with Fair Maps Maryland (an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to the abolition of politically motivated gerrymandering and the full implementation of non-partisan redistricting).

Prior to the 2014 victory in the Howard County Executive race Kittleman served as a Maryland State Senator from 2004 to 2014, representing the 9th district covering Howard and Carroll Counties, and was Senate Minority Leader from 2008 to 2011. He also served on the Howard County Council from 1998 to 2004.

Maybe you have seen the “Bring Back Kittleman” signs at events around the county:

You have to believe these folks will be motivated by this announcement.
