The Howard County Fair is a tradition in the Kittleman home that goes back more than 60 years.

As the Howard County Fair returned to the County Fairgrounds during the second week of August, so too did Allan Kittleman, his wife Robin, and members of the Kittleman family.

I don’t think there has been a year when I missed the Howard County Fair. My father would bring us along with him when he would attend as a cattle farmer, and I grew to enjoy it.  So much fun….I look forward to it every year.

The week kicked off with the annual Opening Fair Parade, which was attended by very special guest Governor Larry Hogan.

2018 also marked the return of the Kittleman booth to the Midway.

Each day, hundreds of Howard County residents spun the Kittleman prize wheel, chatted up the local politics, and took home Kittleman sunglasses and shirts with the Kittleman logo on it.

In all, the campaign handed out over 600 pounds of candy and 1,000 bottles of water to fairgoers.

On Tuesday, Allan joined Fair Director Mickey Day and provided fellow Howard County resident Lt. Governor Boyd Rutherford a tour of the Fair.

On Wednesday evening, Allan did what he does each year…he took to the Livestock sale and donated a prize pig.

And you can’t go to the Howard County Fair and not support the men and women that make-up the West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department in the dunking booth.

As he does every year, the Howard County Executive sat in the dunking booth as residents paid $3 to dunk him. The ninety minutes Allan spent in the booth was a personal best for the County Executive, who has long earned a reputation as a strong supporter of the West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department.

The Fair ended on a beautiful Saturday evening with temperatures hovering at a very comfortable 80 degrees. Perfect for the annual Parade of Floats.

One thing you can be sure of….the Kittleman family will be back in 2019!
